Sweeney Todd: School Edition – The Musical

On February 27, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Singhanat Nomnian, Director of MUIDS, along with the school’s executive team, staff, and students, had the privilege of attending this thrilling production at MACM Hall, College of Music, Mahidol University.

 

For the first time in Thailand, this legendary musical was performed in its official School Edition, licensed by Musical Theatre International (MTI). Adapted to suit young performers while preserving its dark and gripping essence, the show was brought to life by students from the Pre-College Young Artist Music Program (YAMP), International Music Boarding School, College of Music, Mahidol University.

 

With a chilling story by Hugh Wheeler and haunting music by Stephen Sondheim, Sweeney Todd tells the tale of a barber’s quest for vengeance in London, intertwined with the sinister plans of Mrs. Lovett and her infamous pies. Under the masterful direction of Dumkeng Thitapiyasak (Big), this performance was a theatrical experience to remember!
