MUIDS Strengthens Global Research Ties with Kindai University, Japan

On 20 June 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Singhanat Nomnian, Director of the Mahidol University International Demonstration School (MUIDS), convened a meeting with two faculty members from Kindai University, Japan. The objective was to systematically define the scope and methodology of a forthcoming collaborative research initiative in international education, which is scheduled for implementation at MUIDS in August.

Professor Dr. Richard Derrah (Faculty of Applied Sociology, Kindai University) brings substantive experience teaching at the secondary level in both the United States and Japan. He has also been appointed as a visiting scholar at Mahidol Universityās Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia (RILCA). His research adopts a comparative framework to critically examine high-school education systems in the United States, Japan, and Thailand.

Associate Professor Dr. Peter Ferguson (Faculty of Economics, Kindai University) offers an extensive teaching portfolio spanning both junior and senior high schools in Japan. His current scholarly agenda is centred on the construct of teacher self-efficacy within cross-cultural educational contexts.

This global partnership aims to elevate both the academic rigour and research capabilities of MUIDS through the integration of transnational comparative pedagogy and teacher efficacy studies.
