MUIDS Students Bring Music and Smiles to the Elderly Community

On May 8, 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Singhanat Nomnian, Director of MUIDS, visited to show support for Grade 10 students participating in a meaningful community service activity at Chalermrajakumari Home for the Elderly (supported by Luang Pho Pern). The group was led by teachers Mr. Cameron Rush and Ms. Tanaporn Rajatanative.
This activity was part of MUIDS’s ongoing mental health advocacy campaign, co-organized by the Counselor Team and the Design, Visual, and Performing Arts Department. With the aim of supporting emotional and cognitive well-being among the elderly, students prepared and performed personalized jazz songs to brighten the day of the residents. The performance not only offered joy and entertainment but also contributed to the stimulation of memory and motor functions.
Throughout the project, students engaged in collaborative planning, critical thinking, and reflection. They compared musical styles, discussed meaningful connections between music and mental health, and developed strategies to achieve their creative goals—demonstrating empathy, creativity, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
